About
Back Bay Real Estate
Our company was founded on a simple truth: building anything in California is hard.
BBRE is a development and entitlement services firm built by real estate professionals, for real estate owners and investors who need an experienced partner to navigate California's approvals process.
Our Edge
What sets BBRE apart.
We think like a principal, because we are one.
BBRE is led by an experienced development team that underwrites, acquires, entitles and repositions its own properties. We bring that same owner's mindset and accountability to client engagements as if it was our own capital.
Integrated, end-to-end.
Acquisitions, diligence, entitlements, legal and construction. We provide the architects, engineers, and consultants each project needs, all managed under one roof. You get a single point of contact, accountable for the outcome.
Entitlements are our core specialty.
Entitlements are where real estate value is created, and where most projects get stuck. It's the phase we know best, backed by deep relationships with the cities and agencies that decide a project's fate.
Aligned.
Where it makes sense, we can co-invest alongside clients. Beyond that, we offer flexible compensation structures tailored to align with each client's needs and goals.
Entitlements are complicated. We make them simple.
Entitlements are ripe with seemingly endless obstacles: city bureaucracy, shifting zoning ordinances, changes to state laws, CEQA reviews/exemptions, public hearings, legal nuance, etc. Most owners don't have the time or expertise to navigate it all, and that's exactly where projects fail. We built BBRE to carry that burden for you.
Every engagement moves through clear phases, each with its own decision gate, so you always know where the project stands. From acquisition and diligence, through entitlements, permits and legal, to construction and a delivered project: one team, accountable at every step.
We evaluate the opportunity, model the economics, and pressure-test the site before you're committed.
We secure the approvals and legal structure that create value, our core specialty.
We manage the build as your owner's representative and deliver the finished project.
A note on outcomes: most entitlement approvals are subject to public agencies and are not guaranteed. Our job is to maximize the probability and the value of approval, and to give you a clear-eyed read at every step of the entitlement and approval process.
